13-Week Cash Forecast
Short definition
The 13-week cash forecast is a rolling weekly plan of collections, payments and debt service. It shows the trough that monthly P&L and ratios miss.
Detailed explanation
Lines: customer collections (ageing), suppliers, tax, payroll, interest/principal, capex. Cash plus committed lines must not fall under the trough.
A rolling update catches a miss early. Scenarios (late collections, FX, rates) are written into the same 13 weeks.
Why it matters for the CFO
The credit committee and crisis management want this table. A profitable month can still default in a Wednesday trough.
How to read it
The date of the trough locks the minimum-cash and draw decision. A monthly budget does not give that date.
